Ascension Land Use Amendment Application Submitted to Rocky View County – October 2022
The Ascension Land Use Amendment application was submitted to Rocky View County administration on October 7, 2022. The application is under review by the County and will be circulated to internal and external stakeholders and adjacent landowners in November – December 2022. Questions and comments may be submitted to the County at development@rockyview.ca or to the project team through the Get in Touch page on this website.
Ascension Conceptual Scheme Approval – September 21, 2021
The Ascension Conceptual Scheme received third reading at Rocky View County Council on September 21, 2021. The Conceptual Scheme will be added as an Appendix to the Bearspaw Area Structure Plan. The approved version of the Conceptual Scheme has been attached on the Project Resources page.
Ascension Conceptual Scheme Calgary Metropolitan Region Board – September 2021
The Ascension Conceptual Scheme was approved by the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board on September 17, 2021.
Ascension Conceptual Scheme Calgary Metropolitan Region Board – June 2021
The Ascension Conceptual Scheme received second reading from Rocky View County Council on June 15, 2021 and will be progressing through the Interim Regional Evaluation Framework (IREF) Review with the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board in Summer 2021.
Ascension Conceptual Scheme Public Hearing – June 1, 2021
The Ascension Conceptual Scheme is scheduled to proceed to Rocky View County Council and Public Hearing on June 1, 2021. The Conceptual Scheme has been attached on the Project Resources page.
Ascension Conceptual Scheme Public Hearing – April 20, 2021
The Ascension Conceptual Scheme was further updated based on feedback received during the December 2020 – January 2021 recirculation and resubmitted to Rocky View County in March 2021. A Public Hearing was scheduled for April 20, 2021, at which time a motion was made to postpone the Public Hearing to June 1, 2021, to allow area landowners additional time to review the plan and provide feedback.
Conceptual Scheme Re-Circulation Comments
The Ascension Conceptual Scheme was re-circulated to Rocky View County, Key Stakeholders and the Public in late 2020 and responses to those comments and revisions to the plan were made in early 2021. A summary of responses to the questions and concerns received from area landowners has been attached on the Project Resources page.
Conceptual Scheme Submitted to Rocky View County
The Ascension Conceptual Scheme was resubmitted to Rocky View County in September 2020 and is undergoing circulation with the County and Key Stakeholders. Any recommended revisions to the plan will be considered until January 4, 2021 so please provide your comments through the “Get in Touch” page of this website.
Growth Management Board Implementation
PROVINCE As of January 1, 2018, the Province of Alberta announced the implementation of Growth Management Boards (GMB) for the Calgary Metropolitan Region into legislation.
